After the experience of the last year in Monte Carlo with Longines, I’m back again in the pearl of the Principality of Monaco to attend the sixth leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour circuit of which the Swiss watch brand is the main partner and official timekeeper. After Antwerp, Madrid, Hamburg, Shanghai and Cannes, it was the turn of the glamouros Monaco, whose arena is located directly in the picturesque setting of Port Hercule and on the background of Prince’s Palace, a unique place where performance and elegance merge perfectly .
As official watch of the event it was specifically chosen the elegant Longines Conquest Classic model for ladies (you already saw my Conquest here): automatic, thirty diamonds in the chest, and eleven in the pearl dial instead of numbers; whose collection was conceived by Longines exactly to capture the attention during chic nights and between the grandstands of the most important equestrian events in the world. And speaking about elegance, just before the competition, I had the pleasure to meet Jane Richard Philips again (do you remember when I went with Longines to her stables?), the Swiss rider and ambassador of Longines’ elegance (second in 1.45 during the leg of Cannes riding Upanishads San Patrignano, and first place in 1.45 again in the leg of Shanghai on Zechina Z).
The category highlight of Friday was the Pro-Am Cup: a relay race where 15 couples of riders professional/amateur who took to the arena representing their own sponsor. Under the eyes of H.S.H. Prince Albert of Monaco, H.S.H. Princess Caroline of Monaco, and many guests from the show world including French actress Marion Cotillard, triumphed the couple signed by Gucci, Edwina Tops Alexander riding Erenice Horta, and Charlotte Casiraghi on Madison d’Olgy, concluding the two manches without penalty in a time impregnable. Among the starters there was even the U.S. Jessica Springsteen, daughter of singer Bruce Springsteen and affirmed rider at international level, and the French Guillaume Canet, knight and famous actor who recently played the role of Pierre Durand Jappeloup in the film. The second place went to the team instead Noor Dealing with Luciana Diniz and Electra Niarchos, and the third to the Expert Team Blue with Hamer Ahmco and Baraa Jaboulieh (here the complete standings and video).
During the awards ceremony, mother Carolina handed the cup to his daughter Charlotte and Edwina, while the Vice President of Longines brand in the world, Juan Carlos Capelli, who I had the honor to know right there, gave them the watches Longines . After the usual lap of honor to the sound of applause, ended the second day of LGCT of Monaco, and we moved from the stage Longines where we held a lovely dinner at the VIP Lounge for the party with the riders.

Dopo l’esperienza dello scorso anno a Monte Carlo insieme a Longines, sono tornata nuovamente nella perla del Principato di Monaco per assistere alla sesta tappa del circuito Longines Global Champions Tour di cui la Maison orologiera Svizzera è main partner e cronometrista ufficiale. Dopo Anversa, Madrid, Amburgo, Shanghai e Cannes, è stato il turno dell’affascinante Monaco, con la sua arena collocata direttamente nella suggestiva cornice del Port Hercule e sfondo sul Palazzo del Principe, un luogo quindi unico dove performance ed eleganza si fondono perfettamente.
Come orologio ufficiale della manifestazione è stato appositamente scelto il raffinato Longines Conquest Classic modello per signore (avevate visto il mio Conquest qui) : automatico, trenta diamanti incastonati nella cassa, e undici nel quadrante madreperla al posto dei numeri; la cui collezione è stata miratamente concepita da Longines per catturare l’attenzione alle serate chic e fra le tribune delle manifestazioni equestri più importanti al mondo. E a proposito di eleganza, proprio prima della competizione, ho avuto il piacere di rivedere Jane Richard Philips(vi ricordate che sono stata con Longines alle sue scuderie?), l’amazzone elvetica ambasciatrice dell’eleganza Longines (secondo posto nella 1.45 della tappa di Cannes in sella a Upanisad di San Patrignano, e primo posto ancora nella 1.45 nella tappa di Shangai con Zechina Z).
La categoria clou di venerdì è stata la Pro-Am Cup: una staffetta dove sono scese in campo 15 coppie di cavalieri professionista/amatore che hanno rappresentato ognuna il proprio sponsor. Sotto gli occhi di S.A.S. il Principe Alberto di Monaco, S.A.S. la Principessa Carolina di Monaco, e tantissimi volti del mondo dello spettacolo tra cui l’attrice francese Marion Cotillard, a trionfare è stato il duo firmato Gucci delle amazzoni Edwina Tops Alexander in sella a Erenice Horta, e Charlotte Casiraghi su Madison d’Olgy, che hanno vinto concludendo le due manche senza penalità in un tempo imprendibile. Tra i partenti anche la statunitense Jessica Springsteen, figlia del cantante Bruce Springsteen e ormai affermata amazzone di livello internazionale, ed il francese Guillame Canet, cavaliere e attore di fama che di recente ha impersonato il ruolo di Pierre Durand nel film Jappeloup. Il secondo posto è andato invece al team Noor Fare con Luciana Diniz ed Electra Niarchos, ed il terzo alla squadra Expert Blue con Hamer Ahmco e Baraa Jaboulieh (qui la classifica completa ed i video).
Durante la cerimonia di premiazione, mamma Carolina ha consegnato le coppe alla figlia Charlotte e ad Edwina, mentre il Vice Presidente del brand Longines nel mondo, Juan Carlos Capelli, che ho avuto l’onore di conoscere proprio lì, ha consegnato loro gli orologi Longines. Dopo il consueto giro d’onore a suon di applausi, si è conclusa la seconda giornata del LGCT di Monaco, e ci siamo spostati dal palco Longines dove abbiamo tenuto una cena deliziosa, alla Vip Lounge per la festa con i riders.
