I was referring to Vittorio Orlandi, who in 1972 when the Italian national team was legendary, along with riders d’Inzeo brother and Graziano Mancinelli, in Monaco of Bavaria he won the bronze medal team at the Olympic Games of show jumping, and that in his Equestrian Center Castellazzo, where also lived my Icona, he confided to me in an interview which is now on sale in the Italian newsstands on “I Nostri Amici Cavalli” magazine.

Vittorio Orlandi is that lost equestrianism that we wants to find again, and even if the times of the ancient splendor seem far away, he comes back , this time not in competition , but on the social networks always to give his contribution. Recently in fact he joined Facebook, and on his official page he daily publishes the “riding pills”, a sort of real online lessons where he shares the secrets that have made him great so that they can in some way be usefull for young riders and not only.
Vittorio Orlandi , President of APICE (Association of Italian Owners of Horses for Riding ) is active not only in the equestrian area, but also humanitarian: for every five “Like” on his facebook page, APICE will donate one Euro for the survivors of the dramatic shipwreck in Lampedusa, occurred on October 3rd. Together, with a seemingly small gesture, we can do so much, just think that the members licensed at the FISE (Italian Federation of Equestrian Sport) are more than a hundred thousand.
I’m very lucky and happy to be able to live my riding life in the equestrian center of this great rider and man that, born in 1938, every morning already from the first light is operational and ride his horses . The strength here is great, impalpable, but it surrounds us and penetrates us.

Vi ho accennato qui di lui, quel giorno che mi ha detto “se noi rispettiamo i cavalli, loro ci possono ripagare al meglio, diversamente, cominciamo a fare delle lotte in cui alla fine sicuramente siamo noi a perdere, non il cavallo” alludendo al rispetto profondo per quell’animale che è la sua vita.
Mi riferivo al Cavaliere Orlandi, che nel 1972 ai tempi della nazionale Italiana stellare, insieme ai fratelli d’Inzeo e Graziano Mancinelli, conquistò a Monaco di Baviera la medaglia di bronzo a squadre ai Giochi Olimpici nel salto ostacoli, e che nel suo Centro Ippico di Castellazzo, dove dimora anche la mia Icona, si è confidato a me in una intervista che da oggi è in edicola sul mensile de “I Nostri Amici Cavalli“.
Nel servizio non solo potrete leggere dei suoi importanti successi del passato e quelli dei suoi cavalli del presente, ma anche delle molteplici inizative che lui privatamente ha portato avanti negli anni per cercare di fare emergere l’equitazione Italiana, non ultimo un messaggio rivolto proprio ai giovani che intraprendono questo sport.
Vittorio Orlandi è quell’equitazione persa che si ha voglia di ritrovare, e anche se i tempi degli antichi splendori sembrano lontani, ecco che lui ritorna, questa volta non sui campi gara, ma sui social network per dare sempre e comunque il suo contributo. Di recente approdato su Facebook infatti, sulla sua pagina ufficiale quotidianamente pubblica le “pillole di equitazione”, delle vere e proprie lezioni online dove condivide quei segreti che lo hanno reso grande affinchè possano in qualche modo essere di aiuto ai giovani cavalieri e non solo.
Vittorio Orlandi, Presidente di APICE (Associazione Proprietari Italiani Cavalli da Equitazione) è attivo non solo in campo equestre, ma anche umanitario: ogni cinque “Mi Piace” alla pagina facebook del Cavaliere, APICE donerà un Euro per i sopravvissuti del drammatico naufragio di Lampedusa avvenuto lo scorso 3 Ottobre. Insieme, con un gesto apparentemente piccolo, possiamo fare davvero tanto, basti pensare che i tesserati alla FISE (Federazione Italiana Sport Equestri) sono più di cento mila.
Sono molto fortunata e felice di poter vivere la mia equitazione risiedendo nel centro ippico di questo grande cavaliere e uomo che, classe 1938, ogni mattina già dalle prime luci è operativo e monta i suoi cavalli. La forza qui è grande, impalpabile, ma ci circonda e ci penetra.
Oggi mi aspetta il concorso sociale in maneggio, con lui giudice e tanto di “pagella” a fine percorso. Fatemi un in bocca al lupo!
